At the beginning of the trip we visited Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, for a few hours. We saw a mythic place : Ann Franck’s house, and tasted typical food. The day after we went to the most famous concentration camp : Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland. It was poignant.

Then we arrived at the International Village which was located in the mountains in Stara Lubovna in Slovaquia. We also discovered a wonderful city, Cracow, in Poland, where we were bathed in the culture through the food, the cathedrals, the market, the history, the people… it was amazing.
During our trip each morning we had workshops in which we were mixed in teams with people from different nationalities (Latvians, Italians, Czechs, Belgians and Slovenians). Those activities were varied (speed dating, acting, games...) and were aimed at exchanging with foreigners in order to improve our English.

In the afternoons, we had a lot of different activities organized. We were able to choose among four activities every day. Those activities allowed us to exchange with the five others nationalities. One day, we could go to Aquatic City in Propad in Slovaquia, visit the Castle in Stara Lubovna, or we could participate to various games such as : art, dance, handcrafting, sports, game boards. All these activities were aimed at encouraging us to discover the country, meet new people and broaden our minds.

Each evening, an activity was proposed by the “super teachers”. Actually, the purpose of those events was to gather with others and discover the traditions, history, famous people, food and culture from other nationalities. We had the opportunity to teach the students local dances such as Kuduro and Zouk. All the other countries were eager to learn more about our tiny island which is part of Europe as well.

This was the best experience ever since we could make friends from overseas and learn about the others as well as teach them about our diversity. Finally, as we spoke English 24/7, we really improved our level and even finished by dreaming and thinking in English which was really great !!
